Kalimba Class with Martin Klabunde

I am offering a class for those who are interested in learning the Akogo. This instrument comes from the Eastern part of Uganda. It is a Kalimba or Thumb piano played by the Teso people. The instrument is beautiful, easy to learn and can become pleasantly addictive. :)

There are three different sizes and we will create an ensemble with each size playing a different part to create a beautiful piece of music. I have hopes that we can create an Akogo ensemble and play out locally and maybe even combine the Akogo music with the drumming I teach on Monday nights. Can you see it? An ensemble with Akogo, djembe and dununs? Very unique and beautiful!

Akogos are provided for class use and also available for purchase.
