Humility PDF Print E-mail

I am nobody. I am connected to all beings. My desire to receive is gone. My desire to serve is pure. I am committed to humility. Humilty is a deep knowing of who you are. So deep that you have no need or intention to prove anything to anyone, you have no desire to receive recognition. You have lost the ambition you had that fuels your desires and replaced it with a deep sense of humilty and a desire to serve. You no longer need anything external to feel happy and content everyday.

Humility . . .

  • Is letting go of the desire to defend our selfWhen we no longer have anything to protect we can BE in and participate in a state of humility.Be a "garbologist"; be willing to receive others emotional "garbage", transform it into love and give it back as a gift.
  • Is being willing to become "nobody"
This culture has taught us very specific definitions of independence, success, ambition. Redefining these terms can be a part developing a new belief system that provides a foundation for our spiritual goals.
  • Is always a process and is never completeWe ought not to allow our self to think we are humble, rather we should strive to be humble in every moment. Humility is not possessed, but requires our participation.
  • Is being willing to have selfless motivation to best servant we can beOften, people wish to be a good servant to others, but cringe when they are treated like aservant. Sometimes people are humble to receive something from the exchange. The motivation of a good servant comes from pure humility and therefore should embody a willingness to be treated like one with nothing to protect and only compassion, forgiveness, gratitude and love to give.
  • Is being willing to Listen More and Talk LessListening is an effective way to be of service to others. So many times, we are thinking of what we are going to say next while the other person is speaking. Many times we will actually interrupt and say what we think, regardless of whether it was asked for or not. Listening is a practice of humility and talking less provides us the opportunity to listen deeply.

Whoever has a genuine kind heart full of humility has kindness for everyone in every situation. His heart is not darkened by rudeness, negativity or injustice.
