Kalumba Ensemble PDF Print E-mail

Kalumba (pronounced KA-LOOM-BA) performs sacred music, a hybrid blend of traditional and contemporary music from Uganda, Guinea, Mali and the many worlds of spirit. All tracks are original compsitions utilizing traditonal instruments from Uganda, East Africa and Mali and Guinea, West Africa. Instruments include the Akogo (Ugandan Thump Piano), the Karimba, (Congolese Thumb Piano), the Adungu (Ugandan Harp), the Djembe and Dunun (Malian and Guinean Drums). The Ensemble is directed by Martin Klabunde, who plays with various musicians who have a similiar intention with music.

"We all have a cosmic dream to remember and integrate into this human body and we all have a mission on this earth. Music is a direct connection to the stars, where we meet our true self and begin the journey. Music is the food that nurtures our soul and give us strength and courage to be humble and have compassion for all beings."

Martin Klabunde

Martin Klabunde, Randy Granger and Stephen Cumberworth perfrom original music using native american flute, the hang drum, djembe and percussion. A very unique experience. This is a small, intimate performance and space limitations require us to limit the number of people to 30.
